Importing / Exporting Your Test Data

Importing Files

Select the "Import File" option from the "File Menu" (Quick Key Press CTRL + L),

You may want to merge two or more files within SimplyPats. You may need to do this if the job for a customer has more appliances than your PAT Tester can hold and you have to download 2 or more files.

To import files, first load the first file you downloaded, then click on the "File" menu and instead of clicking on "Open", click on "Import File" and select another file you wish to add to the file you already have loaded. It is a good idea to use the "Save As" option from the "File" menu to save this with a new name. By doing this you will still have your two original files, and the new file wil be a combination of both. Of course, there is nothing to stop you merging as many files as you want, although, remember that SimplyPats has a limit of 20,000 tests in any one file.

Importing And Updating Data

Selecting the "Import And Update" option from the "Records Menu" to update your currently open SimplyPats file with data from another file. You can use this option if you are trying to maintain an up to date master SimplyPats file for a site. It is particularly useful if you are doing 3 monthly retests and wish to update the test records with the new data. See Also Import And Update screen

Opening Native Files Produced By PAT Testers or other PAT Software

You can select various additonal file types to load, these are produced by other PAT Testing Programs or are the native format produced by the PAT tester. These options can be useful if you have switch to using SimplyPats after using a an alternative PAT Testing program.

(Metrel .opt Files - Used by the Metrel PAT Link program - These files can be imported by us, please contact us if you need to convert Metrel .opt files into SimplyPats format.)

To import these files, click on the download button on the toolbar, or select the "Download PAT" option from the "File Menu" (Quick Key Press CTRL + D)

Select which PAT tester you have, and you should see an Import Button for the appropriate native file. For example shown below is the Fluke Download page and the Import button.

Ensure if there are Notes fields, or comments lines in your pat that you have set their use within SimplyPats as you want them. See Using the Notes Fields.

Once you click on the Open button you will be prompted to select the file you wish to import.

Opening inspHire Rental Software Files

To export your file in .CSV, click on the "File" menu and then select "Save As", when the dialogue appears, click on "Save as type" and choose .CSV.

Remember - If you choose to save your work in CSV format, make sure you also save any changes to your file in the normal SimplyPats (.PAT) form. SimplyPats cannot load back .CSV files.

NOTE!

In .CSV (Comma Separated Value) files the first line of the file created contains the field names of the data.
