Maintain Default Fail Reasons

You can maintain your default fail reasons on this screen. Select "Maintain Default Fails" from the "Maintenance Menu" (Quick Key Press F11)

Whilst you can enter Fail Reasons in the notes or comments fields of the PAT Tester, you may which to just add simple notes whilst in the field and then enter more complete fail reasons later when you have downloaded the tests into SimplyPats. To save time typing the more common fail reasons, for example Damaged flex, rewire or discard, these have been added to a list which you can select without having to type them every time. You can of course add your own new fail reasons to this list.

You can add up to 100 default Fail Reasons to your list.

Click on the column headers to sort the list in descending alphabetical or numerical order, click the column header again to sort in ascending order.

Ok

Saves the changes that you have made and closes the Maintain Default Fail Reasons screen.

Cancel

Abandons any changes you have made and closes the Maintain Default Fail Reasons screen.

New

Click New and a new line will appear, you can now enter your own default fail reason. Make sure you dont leave any blank entries as you wont be able to save your list until all the blanks are removed.

Delete

Click on delete and the currently highlighted item will be deleted. You will not be prompted to confirm that you wish to delete an entry, so if you delete by mistake you will have to retype the entry.

Find

Find allows you to find a specific Default Fail Reason to edit or delete. See Also Find In Grid

Print

You may wish to print out your default fail reason list, simply click on the print button to be shown a preview screen with the list where you can then print it out. See Also Print Preview

The Default Fails list is printed in the order it is sorted on screen, so click on the column headers to sort the list to the desired setting prior to printing.

Technical Note!

The Default Fail Reasons are stored in a plain text file SimplyPats Default Fails.ini in the folder c:\Program Files\SimplyPats 6 which can be edited with a word processing program or text editor if you desire. Make sure you dont add quotes " or you may find you have problems when editing the fail reasons again.
