7) Added the ability to store the Notes or Comment lines from all of the PAT testers into a nominated field within SimplyPats. You can now select to store the notes field from the PAT into Appliance Serial Number, Retest Period, Notes, User/Engineer, Fuse Rating, Site, Location, Appliance Description, or Charge and Repair codes.

8) Rewritten the Download PAT screen allowing you to easily swap between downloading different PAT testers.

17) Added specific help for uploading each PAT tester on the settings screen for each PAT tester.

18) Added a new option on the Bulk Replace screen (where you have selected a range of tests) to remove any leading zeroes from your Appliance Id's. Bugs

1) When using the System Settings screen on the Manual Version of SimplyPats, if you had no com ports available on your PC, a message appeared saying this and stopped you making any changes to the settings. This has now been fixed for the manual version.

2) When downloading the OmegaPat Plus MI3305 where flash tests have been done and recorded a value of <0.2 SimplyPats stopped with an error. This has now been fixed.

3) When downloading the Megger PAT4 if you had set your own group code (test code) and chosen not to undertake a Visual Test, SimplyPats did not record the Visual Test as being skipped but set it as a failed visual test.

4) When downloading the Transmille 6080 or Transmille 6080 Plus, the earth Continuity output was being incorrectly read, stating a 25A output when 100mA test was done. This has now been fixed.

11) On the Manual Entry screen, when adding a new user to your last test, on restarting the Manual Entry screen that user wasn't avaialble.

12) On the review Customers screen, when finding Retests due Between 2 dates the results were showing the first retest due in that customer file, not just those customers whose retests dates fell in that period.

13) When printing a list of Sites using the from the List Sites screen, the report referred to locations not sites.

14) Everywhere in SimplyPats where you could load an image, e.g. company logo, signature image for reports, or add photo to an appliance, you were given the option of looking for gif type images. However if you selected files of type gif, no gif images would be listed even though they were present. This has now been fixed.

    Bugs

    1) When printing a folder cover where your customer had no contact title entered (e.g. Mr, Mrs Miss etc) No contact name was shown on the folder cover. Now just Forename and Surname are shown.

    9) Increased the maximum number of customer files that can be listed by the Review Customers, Quick Select customers and Retest Calendar screens from 3000 to 5000.

    10) Added an Ignore button on the Customer Quick Select screen and Review Customers screen to create a list of customers to be hidden on those screens. These ignored customers can also be shown / hidden on the Re tests Calendar screen. Ignored customers can be taken off the ignore list by selecting them and clicking the ignore button a second time. The purpose of this is remove customers or their data without actually deleting the SimplyPats data file.

    11) Amended the Metrel GammaPat MI 3311 download routine to cater for later revisions of the Metrel GammaPat Firmware. Sometime after Firmware Version 1.27 Metrel have added the ability for the Gamma Pat to enter an Appliance description in addition to the Appliance Id. SimplyPats will now download and make use of this Appliance Description if it is present.

    12) Amended the Megger PAT4 Download to put the contents of the Serial Number Field in the PAT4 into the Serial Number Field of SimplyPats. This will only happen when you choose not to use the Serial Number field on the PAT4 for entering Charge and Repair codes.

    13) Amended the Megger PAT4 download to correctly put the Fuse Rating from the PAT into the Fuse rating field in SimplyPats.

    14) Increased the Appliance Serial Number field from 20 characters to 25 characters.

    15) Added a third option on the print Labels screen so that the Test Date and Retest Date are NOT printed when you print PAT Testing Labels. This option may be useful for those users who wish to write in the test date and retest date whilst on site testing rather than having the dates printed in advance.

    16) Re-Ordered the list of Import Raw Data file options in the File Open dialogue so that the more popular Raw data files are at the top of the list.

    Bugs

    1) Amended Version 6 freely available custom certificate of PAT Testing by removing the dots from the signature line.

    2) On the Summary Of Repairs report if there were no repairs the Customer Name field at the top of the report would contain a weird date e.g. 30-Dec-1899. This has now been fixed to show the Customer Name even when there are no repairs. The report also states No Repairs Required.

    3) When you clicked on the Today button on the Re tests Calendar screen, Tomorrow was highlighted in error. The today button now highlights today.

    4) Trying to Bulk Change the Fuse Rating (on its own) on either a selection of tests or all tests stated that there was nothing to do. This has now been fixed.

    5) Trying to Bulk Change the Class of an Appliance (on its own) on either a selection of tests or all tests stated that there was nothing to do. This has now been fixed.

    6) On Import and Update, if the file that was being imported to update your master Pat testing file contained duplicate appliance id's (perhaps where an appliance has been tested and re tested.) then some blank tests were created in error. The import and update screen now checks that the file you are importing doesn't contain any blank or duplicate appliance id's, prompting you to fix them first, before going ahead with the import.

    7) On some the Martindale MicroPat Plus Testers it is possible to set the earth Continuity Limit to 1 Ohm. If this was done SimplyPats would not pick up the Earth continuity Results. (SimplyPats was not expecting such a high value for an Earth continuity Limit, as the Limit is usually set in the region of 0.2 Ohms.) However this has now been fixed. We would suggest that care should be taken to ensure the correct limits as recommended by the IET Code Of Practice are set on the PAT tester.

    8) On some users PC's where they had a custom colour scheme, the main grid group by box may have been set to an odd colour. The group by box is now forced to have a white background colour.

    9) On the Original Certificate of PAT testing, if you had chosen to print just the Month and Year for the retest date, if the month was a long month (number of characters not days) e.g. October, then the Restest Date was being wrapped onto a new line. If you also had an electronic signature loaded the wrapped date was only partially displayed.

    10) A check has been put in to ensure that the settings file for the main screen is not corrupt. This settings file stores the users preference as to the position and size of the main screen when SimplyPats starts.

    11) If you were using Microsoft Outlook Express (tm) as your email client. The button to automatically create a PDF and Email it on the Print Results screen did not attach the PDF correctly. This has now been fixed.

    12) The interpretation of Flash Test results on the Martindale MicroPat Plus Pat tester was incorrect, always failing the appliance with a very high reading 300 mA plus. This bug has now been fixed.

    13) If you had set a folder when exporting PDF's in an automatic Print Sequence that no longer exists, e.g. it has been deleted or was a missing removable drive, and error was created. This error is now trapped and a message given to change the path or replace the folder or drive.

    14) No automatic backup of the download file was made after downloading the Megger PAT4 when using the Auto Create Backup On Download feature on the System Settings Screen. This has now been fixed.

    15) On the SimplyPats Tests By Engineer Utility Version 2.0, the data path was permanently set to C:\Program files\SimplyPats 6\Data This has now been fixed so that it picks up the same data path as set by your main SimplyPats program.

Version: 6.0.2 15th September 2010
  • Additions

    1) If you have Office 2010 installed and you try and create a word document using SimplyPats, if you try and use the Example Body document which is in Word 97 format, an error was produced. This is caused by the Word Trust Center blocking of older Word Format documents. An error trap has now been put in explaining the error. You can solve the problem by relaxing the Word Trust Center settings for older Microsoft Word files, or by creating your own body document in the same version of Microsoft Office that you are using.

    2) Added an option on the Quick Select Customer screen to create a Mail Merge Data file. If you have a Word Processing program such as Microsoft Word (tm) you can use the file created from SimplyPats to mail merge a document to your customers.

    3) On the import and update data screen, if you chose to update the test results, the testcode used by your PAT Tester wasn't being copied in. (where applicable as not all PAT testers reveal any testcodes). The test code is now copied over.

    4) Increased the number of characters description available in the Maintain Extra Charges screen so that longer descriptions can be enetered for invoicing.

    5) Added suport for downloading the Metrel GammaPat MI3311

    6) Added an option to show a graph of the changes in Insulation Resistance, Continuity and Leakage test results over time. This may be useful in showing the possible degradation of insulation of an appliance. This option will only work where you have used unique appliance id's.

    7) Added an Not Appicable option (NA) under the fuses drop down. This option may be useful where you are testing appliances without a domestic 13amp plug. The NA option has also been added to the drop down controls on Bulk Selection screens as well.

    8) Added a new tick box option in the Print Setup screen (Passes and Fails TAB) to allow the showing of exact test results for Leakage, Sub Leakage, Touch Leakage, Flash and Clamp tests. Previously if a test result was less than 0.1 then SimplyPats showed and printed <0.1 with the less than sign. You can now override this to show the exact value e.g. 0.02

    9) Added a new option in the settings for the Megger PAT4/DV3 or PAT4/DV to allow the use of Room Id's in the Megger PAT4 for locations in SimplyPats.

    10) On the Manual Entry screen, if you enter a test time of 00:00 you will be prompted if you want all the subsequent tests you add to have a time of 00:00 set.

    11) Amended the maximum number of sites and locations in a single file from 1000 to 2000.

    Bugs

    1) On Selecting the Kewtech KT74 or Kewtech KT75 from the System Settings screen, the com port selection was not always remembered. This is now fixed. Also when downloading the Kewtech KT74 or Kewtech KT75 the download screen showed an animation but no confirmation of the amount of data being read.

    2) If you had a custom report designed for the Summary Of Repairs screen and this was included in your automatic print sequence, the custom report was not printed, only the default one. This is now fixed.

    3) Amended the internet check for when a newer version of SimplyPats is available so that it doesnt remind everyone one the first day of a new month but rather 90 days after what ever day SimplyPats last checked for an update.

    4) Put additional checks in the program to check whether your company logo image or signature file image are available. If these images were stored on a Server and the folder selected was what is known as a UNC path e.g. \\my server\shared docs\ as opposed to a logical drive z:\shared docs SimplyPats recorded an error. As a tip, if you install SimplyPats on a laptop and want to use it away from your office, copy any company logo image or signature image to the laptop's hard drive.

    5) After creating new Invoices the invoice number was being correctly incremented however not being saved in the program settings. When restarting SimplyPats the invoice number reverted to the original number. This has now been fixed.

    6) The File Open button on the Retests Calendar, Customer Extra Information screen, didnt work. This has now been fixed.

Version: 6.0.1

    2) Added 72 months retest period to the bulk replace screen. This retest period had already been added to the bulk replace of a selection of tests screen.

    3) Added a section of help in the Downloading Your Pat help page for the Robin 5500. There is now separate help for the Robin 5000 and the Robin 5500

    4) Added to the Summary of tests screen an item showing the average number of minutes each test has taken in the current file. This maybe useful if you are employing an engineer to carry out tests for you and want to ensure they are not rushing the visual and plug top checks.

    5) Added the ability to show a unique certificate number (with a prefix) on the certificates. This is so they can be uniquely numbered and traceable like an invoice.

    6) Redesigned the Print Setup screen to group the various options into TABs. This should make it easier to find various options relating to the way things are printed.

    7) Added the ability to add a prefix to the Appliance Ids. This can be done by highlighting a range of tests and then using the Bulk Replace Selection screen from the Tools Menu.

    8) Added Find Next and Find Previous buttons on the Edit Manual Entry screen. This should speed up the process of editing a whole range of manual entered tests, e.g. when re testing a customer or your own site.

    9) Re organised the Manual Entry screen making it more landscape, this is to assist users who are using Netbooks where the maximum resolution is 1024 by 700 and the bottom of the Manual Entry screen could not be seen.

    10) Added support for Automatic Emailing from SimplyPats with Windows Live Mail and Mozilla Thunderbird.

    11) Amended the Tests By Engineer utility to work with Windows Version 7 and SimplyPats Version 6. The free Tests by Engineer will print a report of total number of tests by engineer for a given period. You can now also print a report of total number of tests done each month in a given period.

    12) Added a New Screen to Print PAT Testing labels on to existing label stock. This feature currently works with blank PAT Labels from AOK Lables and also those used with the Label Station Pro printer. This feature also allows you to create and print Appliance Id labels prior to testing and then create a SimplyPats data file. This latter feature maybe useful for those using the Manual Entry screen to enter data.

    13) Rewritten the Help pages on downloading your Kewtech KT74 or Kewtech 75 to include the screen shots of the download process.

    14) Added a new option to allow the importing of appliance data from the inspHire Specialist Hire and Rental Management Software.

    15) Added 2 new options in the Manual entry screen for calculating the next appliance id. These are specific to calculating the next Appliance Id where alpha numeric appliance id's are being used. E.g AP001, AP002 etc. SimplyPats now examines any alpha numeric appliance ids to try and calculate and format the next number.

    16) For a Manually Entered appliance, you can now double click the Appliance in the Main SimplyPats screen to edit that appliance, rather than using the right mouse click menus. Note, it can take a second or two for the Manual Entry screen to be displayed.

    17) Amended the maximum length of the Email field in Your Settings screen from 40 to 50 characters.

    18) Rewritten how your preferences for printing and other program settings are saved in order to speed up the program on exit.

    19) Added a new option on the menu that appears when you right mouse click the customer address on the Main Screen to copy the customer details to the clip board. There is also a button that copies the customer address to the clip board on the Customer Details screen. This is so that you can paste the address into alternative word processing programs, label writing programs etc.

    20) Added OLE (Object Link And Embedding) to the Main screen. With this you can now drag a selection of appliances from SimplyPats into another OLE enabled program such as Microsoft Word (tm) or Microsoft Excel (tm). The App Id, Description, Test Date, Retest Period, Fail Reason and Notes can be copied.

    Bugs

    1) On the very first running of SimplyPats if the Find Appliance fucntion is used, it fails to find appliance Id's correctly. Clicking on any column heading e.g. Appliance Id to apply a sort to the appliances fixes this issue. However code has now been added to add a default sort on the very first time the program is used.

    2) On starting SimplyPats you were prompted if you wanted to check to see if there is an upgrade available. If you had no internet connection or your firewall was blocking such requests then an error was generated. This bug has been fixed and after an unsuccessful attempt to check for an upgrade the timer is set not to check for an upgrade for another month.

    3) If you selected all but one record in a file and tried to delete them, simplypats crashed. This bug was caused by the addition of the photos in version 6 and has now been fixed.

    4) The Folder Cover report was displaying a caption called Account Number. This displayed the notes from the Customer notes field. This caption and field have been removed from the Folder Cover as they were a special request from a SimplYPats user.

    5) An error trap has been put in to detect if your PC display settings is set to 16bit. SimplyPats need to be run in High Colour 32bit.

    6) On a PC with no version of Microsoft Office installed, the System Information screen was not showing that no office was installed.

    7) On the Import and Update screen when printing the reports, the sort order incorrect, sorting by appliance id actually sorted by retest date, and vice versa

    8) On printing an invoice, if in Print Settings you had ticked the box to print Contact name at start of address, and then not entered a contact name, you would get a blank line at the start of the customer address, this has now been checked for and removed.

    9) Ammended the Standard Certificate layout so that overwriting of the order number and the certificate extra text doesn't occur when you have all options set to show the customers full address including their contact name and email etc.

    10) On Printing an Invoice, if you had selected to show the order No in the customer address, this was appearing at the end of the Customer Address on the Invoice, however there is a separate box on the Invoice for order no. The Order No is now not automatically appended to the customer address when printing an invoice.

    11) On Selecting the Kewtech KT74/KT75 from the System Settings screen, the com port selection control was not always shown. This could be fixed by selecting another PAT tester first e.g. a Fluke, then selecting the Kewtech. The com port selector would then be shown. However this problem has now been fixed.

    12) On the Passes, Fails and Passes and Fails reports, if you had used every line of your address and set to show email address, web address etc, the address block was printed very close to the Touch leakage header of those reports. A slightly bigger gap has been introduced.

    13) In very rare circumstances, if the third character of an appliance id is a D or E preceeded by two numbers, and a new manual entry appliance is created then SimplyPats crashes with an error 6 "over flow". This is caused by the routine that tries to calculate the next appliance id on the manual entry screen. It appears appliance id's with letters and numbers are occasionally, very oddly, understood as numeric (for the technical, it sees them as hexadecimal). This problem is now fixed.

    14) When creating a file of only manually entered pat tests, if you selected the Summary Of File screen prior to the file being saved, SimplyPats would crash. This is now fixed.

This will allow you to browse the SimplyPats installation CD for the Drivers for the USB to Serial converter that we commonly supply.

  • 69) Re visited all the Printed Reports and tidied all their layouts.
  • Bugs

  • 1) Amended reading of PATLink .opt files to ensure .opt files created by version 1 of PATLink when downloading the New Zealand / Australian variant of the AlphaPat are read correctly.

  • 2) Flash test results were not correctly displayed on the Pass and Fails Report, they were all set to being skipped. This bug had been introduced when changes were made to Australian and New Zealand firmware versions of some PAT Testers. Flash test results are now shown correctly on this report.

  • 3) Fixed a bug that prevented a customised "Simplified Passes and Fails" Report from being loaded.

  • 4) On the extra information displayed when clicking on a customer in the retest calendar, the Surname and Forename of the customer were swapped, giving "Mr Smith John" rather than "Mr John Smith" this has now been fixed.

  • 5) When using the Import and Update feature, if Importing into a file that contains only one test an error was caused. Whilst it is unlikely that you would ever be maintaining a data file with just one test in, this bug has now been fixed.

  • 6) When replacing abbreviations, if an appliance description contained a number e.g. "36.5" and an abbreviation was replaced on that description, the full stop was being removed from the number e.g. "36 5" and replaced with a space. This would also happen if commas or other punctuation was used. This has now been fixed.

  • 7) On the Single Appliance Per Page report, if no Retest Periods were entered in the data then the Retest Date displayed was incorrect. This has now been fixed so the Retest Date displays the same date as the test date.

  • 8) On downloading the Fluke 6500 if you had set to store the contents of the notes field on the PAT into the Retest Period in SimplyPats and the notes had contained very large numbers (for a retest period e.g. greater than 99 months) an error 6 was generated. Any very large retest periods are now ignored.

  • 9) When using the find duplicates function, if there were more than 20 occurrences of the same Appliance Id then SimplyPats reports an error and stopped. It was only envisaged that there would be 2 or 3 occurrences of the same Appliance Id in a file at most. We have now increased the maximum permissible occurrences of the same Appliance Id to 100 in a data file. This error is only likely to happen if you are not using unique appliance id's or giving your appliances all the same id.

  • 10) On the import and update feature, if you imported a file that contained information in the notes field, the existing notes field was only being overwritten if it was blank. Now, if you have the tick box set to import the notes field, the existing notes are always overwritten.

  • 11) The import and update feature was only changing 1 item of the extra data out of the Notes, User, Fail Reason, Retest Period, PAT Serial, this has now been fixed so if any or all of these extra items are changed then they are imported.

  • 12) On the List Sites and List Locations screens, if any sites or locations were listed that were all numeric e.g. a Site Called 1234 then the site was displayed as 1,234.00 that is in full number format. This has now been fixed and all numeric sites or locations are left unformatted.

  • 13) When saving a Site from the list sites screen, if the Site name contained punctuation the SimplyPats couldn't save the file without you editing the filename. Now any illegal filename characters are stripped out of the filename.

  • 14) SimplyPats was incorrectly determining which Version of Microsoft Office you were using, particularly with office 2007. This has now been fixed.

  • 15) If you had set a VAT rate and details in the Your Settings screen created an invoice and then cleared the VAT details by selecting Tax type NONE and then created the invoice again, a run time error was produced. This fault clears itself if you restart SimplyPats after selecting tax type NONE, however in Version 6 the problem has been fixed.

  • 16) After bulk replacing site or location on a selection of tests the List Sites or List Locations screens were not showing the new Site or Location. This has now been fixed.

  • 17) When bulk replacing Appliance Description, Site or Location on a selection of tests if the new entry was entered in lower case then SimplyPats would display the new details in lower case. This would remain until the file was saved. Now entries are converted to upper case.

  • 18) When writing a Microsoft Word document (tm) from the retest calendar screen on some users PC's a run time error 5 was presented, although the document was correctly created, this was as SimplyPats tried to bring the document to the front so you could edit it. This code has been rewritten to avoid this error.
