Saving your Data

SimplyPats
does not save your Portable Appliance Test Data in a database.

Each time you download to SimplyPats, the data is treated as a seperate file, simply give your Data a file name and save it in you data folder. By default SimplyPats saves your file in it's native format .pat

You also have the option to save and export it in various other file formats detailed below.

SimplyPats Data Format (.pat)

This is the default format for saving your Test Data. Saving your files in this format will allow you to re-load the file back into SimplyPats at a later date.

Comma Separated Value CSV (.csv)

You can export your data as a .CSV file. Saving in this format will allow you to open the file in most Spread Sheet programs, such as Microsoft Excel.

Microsoft Access (.mdb)

You can export your data as a Microsoft Access .mdb file. Saving in this format will allow you to open the file in Microsoft Access. The File is Saved in Microsoft 97 format. Should you have a later version of Office installed on your computer, the file will be readable but may prompt you to convert it to the Version of Microsoft Office you have installed.

Save Selected Records

If you select various tests on the Main Screen, you can Save just these selected tests to a new data file. This is useful if you download more than one site by mistake and wish to save each site out as a separate file. Use "Save Selected" from the "File" Menu

Exporting Your Data

From the Print Appliances Screen, you have the option to export the reports in the following formats

Word - Microsoft Rich Text format (rtf)
Excel - Microsoft Excel format (xls)
 Adobe Acrobat (pdf)
 Web Page Format (htm)
 Plain Text (txt)
Tiff - Tagged Image File Format (tif)

Note on Exports:

The export to word actually exports in Rich Text Format (RTF) which can be opened by the wordpad program on your computer as well as Microsoft Word if you own a copy of it.

RTF format cannot place images side by side with text so you may find you need to edit the document to get the desired results.

Similarly the Excel and HTML exports will not be able to place images exactly because of the limitations of these programs.
