Downloading your Test Data

Once your PAT Tester and PC have been correctly setup and the correct cables (if needed) are in place , downloading your data to SimplyPats is fairly straightforward. We realise that initially you may need a helping hand setting up the software and downloading from the PAT Tester, if this is the case and you would prefer to go through the setup and download process with someone on the phone, please do not hesitate to take advantage of support, which is currently offered free of charge if you are using the latest version of SimplyPats.

As mentioned above, before you download to SimplyPats you need to check some settings and make sure the PAT Tester is connected to your PC using a compatible data transfer cable (unless using bluetooth or other means of data transfer such as a USB memory stick).

Note.. on newer PC's or Laptops you may need to purchase a compatible Serial to USB converter. Not all USB to Serial Converters offer the same level of compatibility or reliability. If required we can supply one which is guaranteed to work and more importantly one that we can support and offer help setting up.

If downloading via cable, make sure that all connections are correct and securely connected, if you are downloading for the first time or you are using a different PAT Tester from your previous download, run SimplyPats and check the System Settings Screen. Choose your PAT Tester from the pull down menu and set the Baud Rate (Download Speed). You can also check COM Port information here, to see if you have a free Port available for SimplyPats to use. Options available on the System Settings screen may vary depending on PAT Tester selected, some pAT Testers may not require you to set the COM Port or Baud Rate as the process is an automatic feature during the download process.

Some PAT Testers will require that the Baud Rate and Download Format be set correctly on the PAT Tester itself, options for this will vary depending on the model of Tester used.

Your PAT Tester Manual may also provide information regarding download options, however in all cases the Baud Rate on your PAT Tester needs to be set to the same Rate as selected in SimplyPats if not automatically set
