Downloading Metrel DeltaPat MI3309

Connecting the PAT to your PC

The Metrel DeltaPAT has the option of connecting to your PC using USB or Serial.

We would recommend that you use a standard USB A to B cable, however using this method will mean that you will need to install the USB Drivers supplied on the Metrel CD included with your PAT tester. If you did not receive a CD with your PAT Tester, please contact support.

This guide assumes that you are downloading data using USB.

Setting what to use the Notes field on the PAT tester

The Metrel DeltaPAT does not currently have any options for this feature.

Downloading The Metrel DeltaPAT

Before attempting to download, and before plugging in the USB cable into the DeltaPat, ensure the PAT tester is set at its main menu (See image below). If you do not do this, you will not be able to download. Also, you MUST connect the PAT tester to the PC before starting SimplyPats. If SimplyPats is running when you plug the DeltaPat in, restart SimplyPats.

On The SimplyPats PAT Settings Screen

SimplyPats can automatically detect the baud rate and com port that this PAT tester is set to. To Start the Download process, click on the download button and you should see a screen similar to that shown below as SimplyPats waits for the data from your PAT tester.

After downloading has finished, you should see your test data displayed in SimplyPats.

Overriding The Auto Detect Baud Rate and Com Port

If you experience problems downloading from this PAT tester, you may wish to manually configure the com port and baud rate.

1) Select the Com Port that your PAT tester is attached to using the drop down box at the top of the screen.

2) Tick the Override Auto Detect Baud Rate and Com Port box

3) Select the same Baud Rate from the drop down box that your PAT tester is set to.

NOTE! Best Results seem to be achieved when setting both PAT and SimplyPats to 115200 baud rate

After downloading has finished, you should see your test data displayed in SimplyPats.

Setting up USB Download

If you want to download via the USB cable option, you will need to first install the USB Drivers (supplied on the Manufacturers CD that came with your PAT Tester).

Please refer to the manufacturer instructions supplied with your PAT Tester for more information regarding installation of the USB Drivers.

Secondly, you will need to set the PAT Tester to download via USB and not the RS232 option. To do this from the Main Screen, scroll down to SETUP and press the TEST button on the PAT.

The screen will now change to show the SETUP menu. Scroll down to COMMUNICATION and select TEST.

The screen will now change to show the SETUP menu. Scroll down to COMMUNICATION and select TEST.

Make sure COM PORT settings reads USB. If you need to change the option use the tab key on the PAT Tester to switch between highlighting the COM PORT and BAUD options. With the COM PORT option highlighted use the Up/Down keys on the PAT Tester to select the USB option.

If you are using USB, we recommend that the BAUD Rate is set to 115200.

On the download PAT screen in SimplyPats we recommend that you set the download options to "Auto Detect"

If you experience problems downloading with "Auto Detect" tick the option to turn it off and override the settings by manually configuring the COM Port and Baud Rate (See above).

Raw Data Backup

SimplyPats automatically creates a back up of the raw data downloaded from your PAT tester and places it in the RawData folder within the main SimplyPats folder. This location of this folder is usually C:\Program Files\SimplyPats 6\RawData\
