Additions

1) Added support for importing CSV data from the new First Stop Safety Memory PAT tester.

3) Added a new Visual Only Passes and Fails Report that prints only those tests which are visual only.

4) Added a new Notes report that prints out only those tests that have Notes (or recommendations) attached to them.

5) Added a new Certificate of Pat Testing report based on the V2 Certificate, however this is a more plain version without any extra graphics.

6) Added a new V2 Passes and Fails report which also shows any Microwave Leakage emission tests in a line below the normal test results where applicable.

9) When creating an invoice you are prompted to validate your data first to check if their are any errors with charges etc. Having validated the data, the invoice screen wasn't shown and was only shown if you had chosen not to validate the data. This has now been fixed to always show the invoice screen.

SimplyPats will pick up a valid 2 character fuse rating e.g. 13 at the start of the notes field, the remaining text will be put in the notes field in SimplyPats.

19) Added a new Folder Cover Report in the same format as the newer V2 Reports. This folder cover contains the full address of the company tested rather than just the company name. In addition like all V2 reports, the headers present can be set match your desired colour scheme.

8) Right mouse clicking on the Test Results area of the main screen prior to any file being loaded caused SimplyPats to crash. This has now been fixed.

9) On printing a sequence of reports if a fails report was selected as the first report to be printed, and there were no failed items, SimplyPats reported an Error 53 and a copy of the Appliance Register was printed in error. This has now been fixed.

10) Added code to ensure Simplypats always exit's completely allowing an immediate restart.

11) When importing a csv file from the Megger 400 series PAT testers, the polarity test was set to N, O, R rather than P, S, F. This bug was introduced in 6.0.6 after the latest version of the Megger firmware was catered for.

Bugs

1) The sub leakage test on the Europa Plus and Supernova Plus testers was being calculated incorrectly, however in the event of a fail SimplyPats would have notified you of data inconsistency and prompted you to check your data.

2) When printing a folder cover where your customer had no contact title entered (e.g. Mr, Mrs Miss etc) No contact name was shown on the folder cover. Now just Forename and Surname are shown.

3) If non SimplyPats data file with the extension .pat was copied in your data folder, (or a totally unreadable SimplyPats file) the Customer Quick Select screen crashed as it tried to show the list. You are now asked to remove the offending file from the data folder.

12) Added an Ignore button on the Customer Quick Select screen and Review Customers screen to create a list of customers to be hidden on those screens. These ignored customers can also be shown / hidden on the Re tests Calendar screen. Ignored customers can be taken off the ignore list by selecting them and clicking the ignore button a second time. The purpose of this is remove customers or their data without actually deleting the Simplypats data file.

Bugs

1) Amended Version 6 freely available custom certificate of PAT Testing by removing the dots from the signature line.

2) On the Summary Of Repairs report if there were no repairs the Customer Name field at the top of the report would contain a weird date e.g. 30-Dec-1899. This has now been fixed to show the Customer Name even when there are no repairs. The report also states No Repairs Required.

3) When you clicked on the Today button on the Retests Calendar screen, Tomorrow was highlighted in error. The today button now highlights today.

5) Trying to Bulk Change the Class of an Appliance (on its own) on either a selection of tests or all tests stated that there was nothing to do. This has now been fixed.

6) On Import and Update, if the file that was being imported to update your master Pat testing file contained duplicate appliance id's (perhaps where an appliance has been tested and retested.) then some blank tests were created in error. The import and update screen now checks that the file you are importing doesn't contain any blank or duplicate appliance id's, prompting you to fix them first, before going ahead with the import.

7) On some the Martindale MicroPat Plus Testers it is possible to set the earth Continuity Limit to 1 Ohm. If this was done SimplyPats would not pick up the Earth continuity Results. (SimplyPats was not expecting such a high value for an Earth continuity Limit, as the Limit is usually set in the region of 0.2 Ohms.) Howver this has now been fixed. We would suggest that care should be taken to ensure the correct limits as recommended by the IET Code Of Practice are set on the PAT tester.

8) On some users PC's where they had a custom colour scheme, the main grid group by box may have been set to an odd colour. The group by box is now forced to have a white background colour.

9) On the Original Certificate of PAT testing, if you had chosen to print just the Month and Year for the retest date, if the month was a long month (number of characters not days) e.g. October, then the Restest Date was being wrapped onto a new line. If you also had an electronic signature loaded the wrapped date was only partially displayed.

10) A check has been put in to ensure that the settings file for the main screen is not corrupt. This settings file stores te users preference as to the position and size of the main screen when simplyPats starts.

11) If you were using Microsoft Outlook Express (tm) as your email client. The button to automatically create a PDF and Email it on the Print Results screen did not attach the PDF correctly. This has now been fixed.

12) The interpretation of Flash Test results on the Martindale MicroPat Plus Pat tester was incorrect, always failing the appliance with a very high reading 300 mA plus. This bug has now been fixed.

13) If you had set a folder when exporting PDF's in an automatic Print Sequence that no longer exists, e.g. it has been deleted or was a missing removeable drive, and error was created. This error is now trapped and a message given to change the path or replace the folder or drive.

15) On the SimplyPats Tests By Engineer Utility Version 2.0, the data path was permanently set to c:\program files\simplypats 6\data This has now been fixed so that it picks up the same data path as set by your main SimplyPats program.

Version 6.0.2 (September 14th 2010)

Additions

1) If you have Office 2010 installed and you try and create a word document using SimplyPats, if you try and use the Example Body document which is in Word 97 format, an error was produced. This is caused by the Word Trust Center blocking of older Word Format documents. An error trap has now been put in explaining the error. You can solve the problem by relaxing the Word Trust Center settings for older Microsoft Word files, or by creating your own body document in the same version of Microsoft Office that you are using.

2) Added an option on the Quick Select Customer screen to create a Mail Merge Data file. If you have a Word Processing program such as Microsoft Word (tm) you can use the file created from SimplyPats to mail merge a document to your customers.

5) Added suport for downloading the Metrel GammaPat MI3311

6) Added an option to show a graph of the changes in Insulation Resistance, Continuity and Leakage test results over time. This may be useful in showing the possible degradation of insulation of an appliance. This option will only work where you have used unique appliance id's.

7) Added an Not Appicable option (NA) under the fuses drop down. This option may be useful where you are testing appliances without a domestic 13amp plug. The NA option has also been added to the drop down controls on Bulk Selection screens as well.

8) Added a new tick box option in the Print Setup screen (Passes and Fails TAB) to allow the showing of exact test results for Leakage, Sub Leakage, Touch Leakage, Flash and Clamp tests. Previously if a test result was less than 0.1 then SimplyPats showed and printed <0.1 with the less than sign. You can now override this to show the exact value e.g. 0.02

9) Added a new option in the settings for the Megger PAT4/DV3 or PAT4/DV to allow the use of Room Id's in the Megger PAT4 for locations in SimplyPats.

10) On the Manual Entry screen, if you enter a test time of 00:00 you will be prompted if you want all the subsequent tests you add to have a time of 00:00 set.

11) Amended the maximum number of sites and locations in a single file from 1000 to 2000.

Bugs

1) On Selecting the Kewtech KT74 or Kewtech KT75 from the System Settings screen, the com port selection was not always remembered. This is now fixed. Also when downloading the Kewtech KT74 or Kewtech KT75 the download screen showed an animation but no confirmation of the amount of data being read.

2) If you had a custom report designed for the Summary Of Repairs screen and this was included in your automatic print sequence, the custom report was not printed, only the default one. This is now fixed.

3) Amended the internet check for when a newer version of SimplyPats is available so that it doesnt remind everyone one the first day of a new month but rather 90 days after what ever day SimplyPats last checked for an update.

4) Put additional checks in the program to check whether your company logo image or signature file image are available. If these images were stored on a Server and the folder selected was what is known as a UNC path e.g. \\my server\shared docs\ as opposed to a logical drive z:\shared docs SimplyPats recorded an error. As a tip, if you install SimplyPats on a laptop and want to use it away from your office, copy any company logo image or signature image to the laptop's hard drive.

5) After creating new Invoices the invoice number was being correctly incremented however not being saved in the program settings. When restarting SimplyPats the invoice number reverted to the original number. This has now been fixed.

6) The File Open button on the Retests Calendar, Customer Extra Information screen, didnt work. This has now been fixed.

Version 6.0.1 (June 1st 2010)

Additions

1) Amended the Licence screen in SimplyPats so that the Licence button takes you to the SimplyPats 6 Licence page with the 34 character Licence Number pre filled in the web page.

2) Added 72 months retest period to the bulk replace screen. This retest period had already been added to the bulk replace of a selection of tests screen.

3) Added a section of help in the Downloading Your Pat help page for the Robin 5500. There is now separate help for the Robin 5000 and the Robin 5500

4) Added to the Summary of tests screen an item showing the average number of minutes each test has taken in the current file. This maybe useful if you are employing an engineer to carry out tests for you and want to ensure they are not rushing the visual and plug top checks.

5) Added the ability to show a unique certificate number (with a prefix) on the certificates. This is so they can be uniquely numbered and traceable like an invoice.

6) Redesigned the Print Setup screen to group the various options into TABs. This should make it easier to find various options relating to the way things are printed.

7) Added the ability to add a prefix to the Appliance Ids. This can be done by highlighting a range of tests and then using the Bulk Replace Selection screen from the Tools Menu.

8) Added Find Next and Find Previous buttons on the Edit Manual Entry screen. This should speed up the process of editing a whole range of manual entered tests, e.g. when re testing a customer or your own site.

9) Re organised the Manual Entry screen making it more landscape, this is to assist users who are using Netbooks where the maximum resolution is 1024 by 700 and the bottom of the Manual Entry screen could not be seen.

10) Added support for Automatic Emailing from SimplyPats with Windows Live Mail and Mozilla Thunderbird.

11) Amended the Tests By Engineer utility to work with Windows Version 7 and SimplyPats Version 6. The free Tests by Engineer will print a report of total number of tests by engineer for a given period. You can now also print a report of total number of tests done each month in a given period.

12) Added a New Screen to Print PAT Testing labels on to existing label stock. This feature currently works with blank PAT Labels from AOK Lables and also those used with the Label Station Pro printer. This feature also allows you to create and print Appliance Id labels prior to testing and then create a SimplyPats data file. This latter feature maybe useful for those using the Manual Entry screen to enter data.

13) Rewritten the Help pages on downloading your Kewtech KT74 or Kewtech 75 to include the screen shots of the download process.

14) Added a new option to allow the importing of appliance data from the inspHire Specialist Hire and Rental Management Software.

15) Added 2 new options in the Manual entry screen for calculating the next appliance id. These are specific to calculating the next Appliance Id where alpha numeric appliance id's are being used. E.g AP001, AP002 etc. SimplyPats now examines any alpha numeric appliance ids to try and calculate and format the next number.

16) For a Manually Entered appliance, you can now double click the Appliance in the Main SimplyPats screen to edit that appliance, rather than using the right mouse click menus. Note, it can take a second or two for the Manual Entry screen to be displayed.

17) Amended the maximum length of the Email field in Your Settings screen from 40 to 50 characters.

18) Rewritten how your preferences for printing and other program settings are saved in order to speed up the program on exit.

19) Added a new option on the menu that appears when you right mouse click the customer address on the Main Screen to copy the customer details to the clip board. There is also a button that copies the customer address to the clip board on the Customer Details screen. This is so that you can paste the address into alternative word processing programs, label writing programs etc.

20) Added OLE (Object Link And Embedding) to the Main screen. With this you can now drag a selection of appliances from SimplyPats into another OLE enabled program such as Microsoft Word (tm) or Microsoft Excel (tm). The App Id, Description, Test Date, Retest Period, Fail Reason and Notes can be copied.

Bugs

1) On the very first running of SimplyPats if the Find Appliance function is used, it fails to find appliance Id's correctly. Clicking on any column heading e.g. Appliance Id to apply a sort to the appliances fixes this issue. However code has now been added to add a default sort on the very first time the program is used.

2) On starting SimplyPats you were prompted if you wanted to check to see if there is an upgrade available. If you had no internet connection or your firewall was blocking such requests then an error was generated. This bug has been fixed and after an unsuccessful attempt to check for an upgrade the timer is set not to check for an upgrade for another month.

3) If you selected all but one record in a file and tried to delete them, simplypats crashed. This bug was caused by the addition of the photos in version 6 and has now been fixed.

4) The Folder Cover report was displaying a caption called Account Number. This displayed the notes from the Customer notes field. This caption and field have been removed from the Folder Cover as they were a special request from a SimplYPats user.

5) An error trap has been put in to detect if your PC display settings is set to 16bit. SimplyPats need to be run in High Colour 32bit.

6) On a PC with no version of Microsoft Office installed, the System Information screen was not showing that no office was installed.

7) On the Import and Update screen when printing the reports, the sort order incorrect, sorting by appliance id actually sorted by retest date, and vice versa

8) On printing an invoice, if in Print Settings you had ticked the box to print Contact name at start of address, and then not entered a contact name, you would get a blank line at the start of the customer address, this has now been checked for and removed.

9) Amended the Standard Certificate layout so that overwriting of the order number and the certificate extra text doesn't occur when you have all options set to show the customers full address including their contact name and email etc.

10) On Printing an Invoice, if you had selected to show the order No in the customer address, this was appearing at the end of the Customer Address on the Invoice, however there is a separate box on the Invoice for order no. The Order No is now not automatically appended to the customer address when printing an invoice.

11) On Selecting the Kewtech KT74/KT75 from the System Settings screen, the com port selection control was not always shown. This could be fixed by selecting another PAT tester first e.g. a Fluke, then selecting the Kewtech. The com port selector would then be shown. However this problem has now been fixed.

12) On the Passes, Fails and Passes and Fails reports, if you had used every line of your address and set to show email address, web address etc, the address block was printed very close to the Touch leakage header of those reports. A slightly bigger gap has been introduced.

13) In very rare circumstances, if the third character of an appliance id is a D or E preceeded by two numbers, and a new manual entry appliance is created then SimplyPats crashes with an error 6 "over flow". This is caused by the routine that tries to calculate the next appliance id on the manual entry screen. It appears appliance id's with letters and numbers are occasionally, very oddly, understood as numeric (for the technical, it sees them as hexadecimal). This problem is now fixed.

14) When creating a file of only manually entered pat tests, if you selected the Summary Of File screen prior to the file being saved, SimplyPats would crash. This is now fixed.

26) Added a new button to the Customer Quick Select screen which will Import the customer details from a selected customer into the data file you already have open.

27) Added a new button on the Invoicee Details screen that copies the Address details from the Customer Details. This is useful to save time if your invoicee has the same or similar address to the customer, saving you the need to copy type the majority of the information.

28) Added the ability to use custom reports on the internal printouts within SimplyPats e.g. the Missing Appliances report.

29) After downloading a PAT tester the Class field within SimplyPats is automatically calculated for Class I and Class II appliances dependant on their being an Earth Continuity test or not.

33) Re written the Fluke 6500 download procedure to enable more reliable download with computers using USB to Serial converters with the Prolific Chip set. This should enable higher download speeds to be successful when using USB converters supplied by PC stores.

34) Added a new Export button on the print preview screen which allows the automatic creation of an Adobe Acrobat (tm) PDF document of your printed report and creates and attaches it to an email.

35) Added an option in the System Settings screen that turns off the automatic checking of Post Codes in the Customer, Invoicee and Your Address screens. As more customers outside the UK, New Zealand and Australia use SimplyPats this feature should enable them to enter their own format of post code.

36) Amended the Import and Update function so that any 0 retest periods do not over write the retest period in your master file.

37) Amended the "Backup Your Test Data" screen so that SimplyPats remembers the target path where the compressed data (zip file) is backed up to.

38) Changed the "Backup Your Test Data" screen so that SimplyPats uses the your current data path to find the SimplyPats data files and not the default data path (c:\program Files\SimplyPats 5\Data). This will be more useful if you are saving your data to a network drive or server.

39) Added code to the Import and Update screen so that the settings you select to decide which characteristics of the test data that are updated, are remembered when you re start SimplyPats.

40) Added a new option in the System Settings screen to suppress the question between adding each Manual Entry test result asking if you want to clear your entries. With this new tick box ticked, after adding a manual test result the entries won't be cleared after the test is added and neither will you be asked the question.

47) Added a new sort order to the printing of reports. "Appliance Id (Strict)" sort order will order the appliances numerically on the Passes and Fails reports and override the default listing or site and location sort order.

48) Added an error trap to the Your Settings screen where you add a company logo or signature image. If an Invalid image is selected e.g. a JPG saved in CMYK a message will explain rather than just getting an error code.

49) Amend the installation routine of SimplyPats. If you re insert your SimplyPats CD on a PC that already has SimplyPats installed you will be told to uninstall the current copy of SimplyPats first. This will allow you to browse the SimplyPats installation CD for the Drivers for the USB to Serial converter that we commonly supply.

50) Removed the pop up message when SimplyPats starts if you have set a fixed Com Port. A static message appears in System Settings, PAT Settings to remind you that a fixed com port is set.

51) Amended the maximum allowable retest period to 72 Months. This will be available by default on new installations of SimplyPats 5.3.0 or above, however to use 72 months on existing installations of SimplyPats you will need to edit the SimplyPats Retest Periods.ini file. Please contact us if you have problems.

52) Added an optional line of customisable text to appear on the following reports: Passes, Fails, Passes and Fails, Appliance Register, Appliance Register By Group, Current Appliance, One Appliance per Page, Retest grouped By Date and Simplified Passes and Fails. This text can be set in the Print setup screen and maybe used to display for example your ISO9002 Registration, or the PAT tester Serial Numbers used in the testing.

61) On the import and update screen added checks to update Fuse, class and Appliance Serial Number as well as RCD and Microwave tests within the checks for Test Data that is being updated.

62) As Support for SimplyPats is now provided free of charge, the need for Support Number has been removed from the Licencing screen.

63) Amended the Replace abbreviations routine to only warn of too long replacements at the end, rather than on each replacement that makes the appliance description greater than 50 characters.

64) Rewritten Print Sequence, Backup Data, System Settings and Diagnostic Download screens to cater for Windows 7 operating System.

65) Amended PAT4 Download routine to cater for an out of range Earth Leakage result where the PAT4 Sends a > symbol to signify a earth leakage of greater than 15mA but sets the pass fail flag on the test to a pass.

66) Changed format on the Repairs area of the Main screen so that where a repair doesn’t have an amount with it, no value is shown in the amount column as opposed to a zero value.

67) Added an optional setting in the .ini file of SimplyPats which will allow the use of some punctuation (full stop, apostrophe and dash) in your abbreviations so you can have an abbreviation HH-FF for example, without SimplyPats thinking it is 2 separate abbreviations HH and FF.

68) Added 3 Tick Boxes to the Print Setup screen to allow you to display (or hide) the Customers Contact Name, Order Number and/ or Email address on the Printed reports from SimplyPats.

Bugs

1) Amended reading of PATLink .opt files to ensure .opt files created by version 1 of PATLink when downloading the New Zealand / Australian variant of the AlphaPat are read correctly.

2) Flash test results were not correctly displayed on the Pass and Fails Report, they were all set to being skipped. This bug had been introduced when changes were made to Australian and New Zealand firmware versions of some PAT Testers. Flash test results are now shown correctly on this report.

3) Fixed a bug that prevented a customised "Simplified Passes and Fails" Report from being loaded

4) On the extra information displayed when clicking on a customer in the retest calendar, the Surname and Forename of the customer were swapped, giving "Mr Smith John" rather than "Mr John Smith" this has now been fixed.

5) When using the Import and Update feature, if Importing into a file that contains only one test an error was caused. Whilst it is unlikely that you would ever be maintaining a data file with just one test in, this bug has now been fixed.

6) When replacing abbreviations, if an appliance description contained a number e.g. "36.5" and an abbreviation was replaced on that description, the full stop was being removed from the number e.g. "36 5" and replaced with a space. This would also happen if commas or other punctuation was used. This has now been fixed.

7) On the Single Appliance Per Page report, if no Retest Periods were entered in the data then the Retest Date displayed was incorrect. This has now been fixed so the Retest Date displays the same date as the test date.

8) On downloading the Fluke 6500 if you had set to store the contents of the notes field on the PAT into the Retest Period in SimplyPats and the notes had contained very large numbers (for a retest period e.g. greater than 99 months) an error 6 was generated. Any very large retest periods are now ignored.

9) When using the find duplicates function, if there were more than 20 occurrences of the same Appliance Id then SimplyPats reports an error and stopped. It was only envisaged that there would be 2 or 3 occurrences of the same Appliance Id in a file at most. We have now increased the maximum permissible occurrences of the same Appliance Id to 100 in a data file. This error is only likely to happen if you are not using unique appliance id's or giving your appliances all the same id.

10) On the import and update feature, if you imported a file that contained information in the notes field, the existing notes field was only being overwritten if it was blank. Now, if you have the tick box set to import the notes field, the existing notes are always overwritten.

11) The import and update feature was only changing 1 item of the extra data out of the Notes, User, Fail Reason, Retest Period, PAT Serial, this has now been fixed so if any or all of these extra items are changed then they are imported.

12) On the List Sites and List Locations screens, if any sites or locations were listed that were all numeric e.g. a Site Called 1234 then the site was displayed as 1,234.00 that is in full number format. This has now been fixed and all numeric sites or locations are left unformatted.

13) When saving a Site from the list sites screen, if the Site name contained punctuation the SimplyPats couldn't save the file without you editing the filename. Now any illegal filename characters are stripped out of the filename.

14) SimplyPats was incorrectly determining which Version of Microsoft Office you were using, particularly with office 2007. This has now been fixed.

15) If you had set a VAT rate and details in the Your Settings screen created an invoice and then cleared the VAT details by selecting Tax type NONE and then created the invoice again, a run time error was produced. This fault clears itself if you restart SimplyPats after selecting tax type NONE, however in Version 6 the problem has been fixed.

16) After bulk replacing site or location on a selection of tests the List Sites or List Locations screens were not showing the new Site or Location. This has now been fixed.

17) When bulk replacing Appliance Description, Site or Location on a selection of tests if the new entry was entered in lower case then SimplyPats would display the new details in lower case. This would remain until the file was saved. Now entries are converted to upper case.

Version 5.2.9 (30/04/2009)

Additions

1) Added a new screen to manage importing new data file into a master file. This import screen allows you to see and update existing appliances, add new appliances and delete appliances that havent been found. This should greatly simplyfy the process of maintaining an update master file, particular for those users doing in house pat testing.

2) Check for Communication Ports when the Manual or Demo Versions of SimplyPats has been removed. This should speed up the loading of those versions.

3) Have removed the check for which Ports are a Modem when SimplyPats starts up. This should speed up the loading of SimplyPats for all versions and should reduce the possibility of problems whilst interrogating new mobile phone broadband USB donlges.

4) Have increased the maximum number of Com Ports that SimplyPats can check for up to 20 from 10. We have seen laptops which have 10 bluetooth com ports listed in Device Manager and this has caused problems for SimplyPats to find freely available standard com ports. This should also help finding USB to Serial com ports where the driver software has installed the USB to Serial com port at a very high number e.g. 14

5) Modified the Appliance Register Grouped By Site printed Report to allow a new custom report to be used which lists all the Sites and their Locations. This is particularly useful if you have a large site and want to understand which locations are in which site.

6) Added support for downloading the BetaPat Plus MI3304 and OmegaPat Plus MI3305

7) When creating an Invoice in Australia and New Zealand where GST is applied, the printed Invoice now contains the Header "Tax Invoice" as opposed to just "Invoice" which appears when creating a UK Vat Invoice.

8) Amended the Sort Order of the Simplified Passes and Fails Report to ensure all non contiguous appliances are grouped together under their respective sites and locations.

9) Added a check for Insphire rental software installed on the same PC as SimplyPats. One of the system files installed by Insphire may need updating to ensure SimplyPats runs correctly. This only applies if you are running the Insphire Rental Software program.

Bugs

1) Problem reading prior to Version 2 PatsLink data files caused by developement work done to make SimplyPats compatible with PatsLink Pro opt files.

2) On Transmille 6080 Download an extra space was left at the end of the appliance description after downloading. This has now been removed.

3) Have re written the Trio SmartCal Pro Logger II csv data import routine to address numerous issues with correctlty reading the data.

4) If Summary of File was chosen, prior to your data file being saved, an error was produced as the program couldnt work out the size of the saved file.

5) Saving selected records (File menu, save selected) where the test results had been grouped by dragging a column header into the group by box. If one of the group title rows had been selected then the save selected failed. This has now been fixed.

6) Have amended the sort order on the Simplified passes and fails report to keep all the appliances of a location grouped together.

Version 5.2.8 (26/02/2009)

Additions

1) Added a new option in System Settings so that when SimplyPats starts, your last edited data file is automatically loaded.

2) Added a drop down to the Manual Entry screen so that you can select which PAT tester was used.

3) Following a user request, have changed the TAB key order on the Manual Entry screen so that the cursor proceeds down the columns of limits and results, rather than accross the rows.

4) On the Manual Entry screen, when new sites or locations are entered they are made available on the drop down list. This list is now sorted into alphabetical order.

5) On selecting the Manual Entry Screen where you already have entered several Manual test results, the site, location, pat serial and retest period are set by default to those of the last test you entered.

6) Added predictive text to the Appliance Description on the Manual Entry screen. When start typing, a suggest list of words is displayed, clicking on one of these words will add them to the appliance description.

7) On Manual Entry screen added a drop down to allow the calculation of the next appliance id in 3 different ways: Number Of Records Plus 1, Highest Appliance Id Plus 1 and, Last Appliance Id Plus 1.

8) On Manual Entry screen when the cursor enters the results column, if the default value of "0.00" has not been changed, the whole entry is highlighted allowing you to overwrite the contents more easily.

9) On Manual Entry screen, if after having added several test results and limits you change the Visual status to a Fail and re-press the Auto button, all the test results are cleared and their status set to skip.

10) Added a drop down to the Manual Entry screen so that you can select a Fail Reason from your list of standard fail reasons.

11) On Manual Entry screen, Failed Test Results, Test Limits and Test status are shown in Red.

12) On Australian and New Zealand Version of Metrel BetaPat MI3303 changes made to deal with New Version of Firmware Version 1.18.

Bugs

1) On the main screen when selecting your PAT Tester serial number from the drop down list, the list was always showing one less than the number of testers you had entered. Thought this had been fixed in 5-2-7 but hadnt and caused more problems when only 1 pat tester was listed in the Maintiain Pat Testers screen. This has now been fixed.

2) When Bulk changing the date a selection of records, the new date was applied but the time of each test was set to 00:00. This has now been fixed so that the original time of test is retained.

3) On the Manual Entry screen, after creating a new test, you are prompted to clear the test results. This was also clearing the last location and site forcing you to reselect them for the next test. The last site, location, pat serial and retest period are now remembered between each test you add.

Version 5.2.7 (12/01/2009)

Additions

1) Added a new function on the Your Settings screen allowing you to specify a Signature image which you wish to be automatically displayed on your Portable Appliance Testing Certificate. Not only does this save you having to sign each certificate but will also enable you to email the certificate as a PDF to your customer with the signature included.

2) Added button on licence screen to open the SimplyPats Licence web page automatically.

3) Added two option buttons on the Retest Calendar screen to show either the First Retest for each customer, or all the unique retest dates for the customer.

4) Added two new sort options on the main screen to sort the list of tests by appliance id in numeric order and to sort tests in alphabetic order. Both sorts are ascending only. Right click the main list of appliances to see the menu with these new options.

5) Added two new options for the Fluke 6500 tester on download to assign the notes field on the tester to either the Fail Reason field or Notes field within SimplyPats.

9) Added more checks to make sure Network drives or external storage devices are available if they are used to store SimplyPats data files.

10) Amended the Pass Report, Fails Report and Passes and Fails Report to allow the displaying of Retest Date on these reports in addition to just the Test Date. A new set of freely available custom reports is available which includes the Restest Date in addition to a wider left hand margin (useful if you are binding the reports).

11) Amended the Robin SmartPat 5000 download so that the Notes field can be imported into the Appliance Description or, Notes, or Fail Reason field as in addition to using the Notes field for either the Retest Period or Charge and Repair Codes.

12) Added the ability to select a range of tests and email just those tests to a customer. This works in the same way as Save Selected and Print Selected tests, eg if you have selected a range of tests and click on the email button, SimplyPats will prompt you just to send those tests as a file. A temporary SimplyPats file is created and attached to the email.

13) Amended the email that is sent when you email a SimplyPats file from the program to contain more customer information.

14) Added a new simplified Appliances Report to the reports available on the print screen. This simplified report contains the Apliance id, Appliance Description, Test Date, Load, Insulation, Leakage and Earth Continuity Values and an overall Pass or Fail status.

21) Improved support for the Seaward 2000i download to cater for situations where PC might not be dealing with data quickly enough causing an incomplete download.

22) Amended the Maintain Pat Testers screen so you can add PAT Testers which are not in the drop down list of default PAT Testers so that you can add your own. Particularly useful for adding manual (non downloading) Pat Test machines.

23) Added a new button on the Main toolbar to access the Manual Entry screen.

Bugs

1) Please wait animation showing a white hourglass rotating was actually showing a green, waiting to connect to pat animation. This bug was introduced in V5-2-6 and is now fixed.

2) When exporting a PDF report where the customer name was being used for part of the filename (option in system settings) and the company name contained an illegal file name character e.g. " / ~ > etc an error 20477 was generated. This has now been fixed. Any illegal characters are replaced with spaces in the prompted filename on export pdf.

3) When downloading the Megger PAT4 where the PAT machine did not contain any test results, SimplyPats threw an unhadled error. A message now appears informing you that no test results were found in the data from the PAT.

4) On create Invoice, the up down buttons used to increment or decrement the invoice number were allowing a thousand separator comma to appear in the invoice number eg. 11,097 this has now been removed so invoice number appears correctly eg. 11097

5) On Creating an Invoice, an invoice number greater than 9999 could not be added, this has now been extended to 99999

6) On installing SimplyPats on Small Business Server 2003 a system file was not being deployed which was stopping some of the SimplyPats screens (Systems Settings, BackUp Data) from running. This file is now being correctly deployed.

7) Using the find screen to find numeric appliance id's was not always reliable. This seemed to happen on the very first time SimplyPats was run, or if the data had never been sorted. Sorting the data by appliance id alphabetic provides better searching for numeric or part numeric appliance id's.

8) The Missing Appliances utility has been rewritten as its seemed to have a multitude of issues, including not saving files to the chosen target path, not saving the missed appliances file as a correct SimplyPats version 5 format file. This program is available from the Start Menu, Program Files, SimpplyPats link on your computer.

9) On emailing data file, the customer details were not being included in the file being emailed. Note that the invoicee details if any are not sent in the emailed file.

10) On the main screen when selecting your PAT Tester serial number from the drop down list, the list was always showing one less than the number of testers you had entered.

11) When SimplyPats was minimised and then you right clicked on the task bar and selected close, SimplyPats would not close and also the window wouldn’t then restore. This has now been fixed.

12) On downloading the Megger PAT4 where a tick had been put in System Settings to automatically create a back up of the data, no backup was being made. This has now been fixed.

13) Fixed bug in Maintain PAT Testers where it wouldn't let you add a new PAT Serial. SimplyPats kept saying that you shouldn’t leave the serial number blank even when it wasn't blank.

Version 5.2.6 (12/08/2008)

Additions

1) Add a New Report, Excel or CSV output. This report is not intended to be printed but used to create a Microsoft Excel (TM) or CSV export file. The output doesn't contain anything other than the data in a format that is readable by Microsoft excel or for interfacing with a third party database.

2) Added ability to Import Fluke 6500 .flk data files from the File Open function.

3) New function to Import Appliance Descriptions from previous years testing, saving you from typing in Appliance Descriptions of known appliances.

4) The Find Duplicates command has been rewritten as it was cumbersome to use when you had many duplicated appliance id's. Now a screen is shown listing all the duplicated appliance id's, allowing you to select those you wish to delete.

5) A new screen has been added to the Retests Calendar. When clicking on on a day in the calendar an information screen is now displayed giving contact information (Company Name, Contact Full Name, Phone Number and Email Address as well as retest period and count of tests) of all the customers that have retests due on that day. The screen also has a button allowing you to automatically email your customer.

6) A new screen has been added to find all your SimplyPats Data files and to show them in a list. You can use this file to quickly list and sort all your customers and Open the customer's data.

7) The Sorting Order that can be set using the drop down on the Print Preview screen of the printed test result reports is now being saved when you leave the SimplyPats program and restored when you print out your test results.

8) The Calculations for the Retest Date displayed on the Printed Certificate have now been changed to reflect either the selected tests (When using the Print Selected Tests option), or the Site or Location selected on the Print Preview screen.

9) Added the Total Number of tests in the current file to the Summary Of Tests screen.

10) New Custom Report (downloadable free from our website) which adds Pat Serial Number and Pat User to the Appliance register grouped by site.

11) Added a Find Customer function to the Retests Calendar to search for customers.

12) Added Navigation buttons to the Retests Calendar to advance or retreat the calendar either a week, month or year according to the view you currently have selected.

13) When downloading the Fluke 6500 tester, the download screen displayed the number of lines of data read. This gave a number much greater than the number of tests being downloaded which was confusing. Now the download screen displays the number of tests being downloaded.

14) Changed currently selected day in Retests Calendar to make it more visible.

Bugs

1) Default database not being installed which is used to export simplypats data a Microsoft access database.

2) When Deleting a customer file from the Review Customers screen, the file appeared to be removed from the list but the actual data file was never deleted. This has now been fixed.

3) When printing from the Review Customers screen an error was caused, unfortunately this was a bug introduced in version 5.2.5. It has now been sorted.

4) When automatically creating a word document from SimplyPats on a PC with Office 2007 installed, SimplyPats informed you that it couldn’t complete the task as you needed to upgrade your version of Microsoft Office. This has now been fixed.

Version 5.2.5 (22/04/2008)

Additions

1) Added error trapping in routines used to calculate earth bond limits. Very occasionally a Metrel Alpha PAT has been seen to send an invalid character (a question mark) in the test code. This charcter cannot be evaluated as a correct earth bond limit and so caused the program to crash. As the Pass and Fail status is not calculated by the test code for Metrel Testers, the code is ignored in the event of receiving an invalid character.
2) Added compatibility for Martindale MicroPat+ Pat Tester
3) Added new screen to Send Retest Dates as appointments to Mircosoft Outlook. If you have Microsoft outlook 2000 or above installed you can send customer details to Outlook to managae your retest dates.

5) Added an Option in the Print Settings screen to show the Filename of the current file in the footer when printing the Passes, Fails, Passes and Fails, Appliance Register, Appliance Register Grouped By Site, and Retests Reports.
6) Added an Option in the System Settings Screen (Program Tab) to use suggest the data file name as the name when exporting a report as opposed to generating an export filename by adding the Customer Name to the Name Of Report and Date.
7) Amended Labels Report to allow printing to Dymo or similar label printer when using a custom report.
8) Retests calendar button added to the toolbar options available when no simplypats data file is loaded.
9) Added support for the New version of the Metrel Beta Pat double test facility. This is where you can test an appliance followed immediately by the appliances IEC lead. SimplyPats now recognises this double test and shows it as two separate tests in the program.

Bugs

1) When a file loaded with only one test result, Right Mouse button clicking on the customer address did not bring up the menu to allow you to email or write word document to that customer.
2) When printing an invoice immediately after loading a SimplyPats file, your company logo was not shown. This did not happen if you had been into the Your Settings screen, or printed any other reports prior to printing the Invoice. This bug has been fixed and the your company logo is shown (if you have one) even when trying to print after immediately opening a file.
3) Fixed printing for Seaward 2000i Files. A bug introduced after version 5.2.2 prevented these files from printing. This has been fixed.
4) On the Your Settings screen, You company name was not always being shown in the protected gray field at the top of the screen. While only cosmetic this has now been fixed.
5) Very infrequently on some users installations, the Calendar and or Review Customers screen would not load. This was caused by a temporary screen sizes file not being saved correctly. Should this happen in the future the screen will automatically be maximised and the screen will load without an error.
6) After opening a SimplyPats data file and the first time you spell check, the close cross on the top right of the spelling suggestions screen did not stop the spell check process.
7) The example abbreviations deployed contained 2 entries for HINARI which when maintaining abbreviations prompted user with a error message. One of the HINARI entries had to be removed before you could add a new abbreviation.

This allows Line 2 of the notes fields to be used for the Retest Period as the early versions of the Europa Plus and SUpernova Plus Pat Testers do not separately prompt for Retest Period.

This is now fixed and regardless of whether using a Europa/Supernova or Europa+/Supernova+, the second line of notes is used for Retest Period (should you select it).
